This article critically presents the challenge to link the built heritage of a historic
center with the natural heritage, as a case of study, the city of Honda; the theoretical reflection
establishes a dialogue with the arguments of Anna Ribas, David Saurí and Monserrat Venturí
(2001), which, propose that the intervention of historic centers, the public space and the
natural heritage must be addressed from holistic scope, and avoiding that none of these
components subordinate the other, so that there is no prevalence of either anthropocentric
and ecocentric discurse in the approach of historic areas and their respective natural heritage
are overcome. This new approach allow to strengthen the value of architectural heritage by
linking it with the natural, recognizing the historicalilty of both components on two different
scales: first, in the historic center, via an urban design strategies that prioritize the relation
with the built heritage, with historic and emblematic buildings and public spaces, and second
with the river front by an urban design project that allows to critically integrate the boundary
between urban and natural (Latauri, 1991).
