This project begins with the identification and improvement of the main shortcomings that military architecture currently has in units built in the Colombian Guajira, this being the warmest territory in the country. From an analysis in macro, meso and micro scales, it was identified that the military units of this region have had a growth of functionalist character but not a planned design of the integration of the zones that requires a base, therefore, it has given greater priority to the functional and operational design of military dynamics, leaving aside the concept of "habitat" within this type of units, taking into account that a military base is also the place of residence of families; In addition, an architecture that responds to the climate, the territory or the important and current environmental awareness has not been implemented, thus generating conventional buildings that require air conditioning systems, among others. For this reason, the general design of the new Flor de la Guajira air base is proposed focused on the residential area, responding to an architecture that seeks to adapt to the climate and the territory, improving the housing quality of the members of the FAC and their families through 3 general guidelines. - The revitalization of the ecological structure, strengthening the native reforestation This project begins with the identification and improvement of the main shortcomings
that military architecture currently has in units built in the Colombian Guajira, this
being the warmest territory in the country. From an analysis in macro, meso and
micro scales, it was identified that the military units of this region have had a growth
of functionalist character but not a planned design of the integration of the zones that
requires a base, therefore, it has given greater priority to the functional and
operational design of military dynamics, leaving aside the concept of "habitat" within

residence of families; In addition, an architecture that responds to the climate, the
territory or the important and current environmental awareness has not been
implemented, thus generating conventional buildings that require air conditioning
systems, among others.
For this reason, the general design of the new Flor de la Guajira air base is proposed,
focused on the residential area, responding to an architecture that seeks to adapt to
the climate and the territory, improving the housing quality of the members of the
FAC and their families through 3 general guidelines.
- The revitalization of the ecological structure, strengthening the native reforestation.
- The implementation of strategies based on natural forms of cooling.
- The improvement of habitat and image in the design of spaces proposed for
families within a military unit.
To respond to these approaches, a research based on the techniques used by
architecture in similar climatic conditions, such as Iranian architecture, which uses
efficient ways to achieve a comfortable climate using wind towers (badgir) that allow
the temperature decrease significantly within a building, without using energy,
generating a positive change in the atmospheric sensation with the use of a natural
resource, in this case, the wind.
Finally, the main contribution of the project is the implementation of bioclimatic within
the military architecture through an innovative model of fiscal housing that uses a
technique adapted to capture the wind generating a thermosyphon effect and thus
refresh the environment inside the house, in addition The use of an endemic material
of the region (the yotojoro) for non-structural elements, such as railings and
decorative panels, is potentiated.
