ECOVIV: Viviendas para Zonas Alejadas

Abstract

Este proyecto de grado propone el desarrollo de Vichomo, un sistema habitacional de carácter modular diseñado específicamente para responder a las complejidades climáticas y geográficas del departamento del Chocó, Colombia. La investigación se fundamenta en la arquitectura bioclimática, buscando una síntesis entre la tradición constructiva y los materiales de construcción contemporáneos La propuesta estructural se basa en un modelo de vivienda palafítica en madera de tangare, se emplea una estructura principal metálica en acro galvanizado para así tener durabilidad en terrenos inundables, complementada con cerramientos en ladrillos de tierra realizados en sitio y finalizando con una estructura reciproca en el mismo tipo de madera para la cubierta. Estos materiales no solo responden a la estética del lugar, sino que optimizan la obtención y viaje de los materiales, al ser materiales endémicos de la zona, también nos ayuda el comportamiento térmico ante las altas temperaturas y la pluviosidad extrema de la región. Mediante un lenguaje visual abstracto y técnico, el proyecto analiza referentes de vivienda social y arquitectura social como Quinta Monroy y Gando, adaptando principios de modularidad y autogestión al contexto del Choco. El resultado es un prototipo escalable que prioriza la sostenibilidad material y la dignidad espacial, consolidándose como una infraestructura que responde a las necesidades de la zona y al contexto de las personas.

This thesis project proposes the development of Vichomo, a modular housing system designed specifically to address the climatic and geographical complexities of the department of Chocó, Colombia. The research is grounded in bioclimatic architecture, seeking a synthesis between traditional building methods and contemporary construction materials The structural proposal is based on a stilted dwelling model constructed from tangare wood. A main galvanized steel frame is used to ensure durability in flood-prone areas, complemented by earthen brick walls built on-site and topped with a truss structure made from the same type of wood for the roof. These materials not only respond to the aesthetics of the site but also optimize material sourcing and transportation, as they are native to the area; they also help with thermal performance in the face of the region’s high temperatures and extreme rainfall. Through an abstract and technical visual language, the project analyzes references in social housing and social architecture such as Quinta Monroy and Gando, adapting principles of modularity and self-management to the context of Chocó. The result is a scalable prototype that prioritizes material sustainability and spatial dignity, establishing itself as an infrastructure that responds to the needs of the area and the context of the people.
