Puerta de Bacatá: Estación Intermodal Calle 26 Bogotá D.C.

Abstract

Esta tesis propone el diseño de la Estación Central Calle 26, articulada con el plan parcial de renovación urbana “Estación central metro 26”, Decreto 644 de 2023. A causa de la fractura urbana en la articulación entre la calle 26 y la avenida Caracas, particularmente en la relación del ciudadano con la infraestructura de transporte y el espacio público. A fin de, consolidar la estación como un hito urbano dotado de espesor simbólico, capaz de operar territorialmente. Por consiguiente, se busca, en primer lugar, la conexión entre el proyecto Regiotram de Occidente y el metro de Bogotá en la estación Calle 26. Segundo lugar, las prácticas sociales del territorio y, finalmente, las dinámicas propias de la ciudadanía. Por ende, el diseño se basa en los principios de Christopher Alexander en Lenguaje de los patrones, mediante el uso de puertas urbanas, circunvalaciones, redes comerciales y sistemas de transporte como patrones que guían la configuración espacial. De manera complementaria, se integran los conceptos de permeabilidad y versatilidad desarrollados por Bentley, Alcock, Murtain, McGlynn y Smith en Entornos vitales. A fin de, estrategias esenciales para articular sistemas físicos y sociales. Estrategias que se transforman a través del concepto teatral, específicamente la escenografía urbana, con el fin de enlazar espacios, recorridos y actividades del proyecto; por consiguiente, se crean transiciones legibles y experiencias urbanas. Con el fin de articular un diseño que responda a las necesidades urbanas de integración social e integración con sistemas de transporte, y, finalmente, a la integración medioambiental.

This thesis proposes the design of the Central Station on Calle 26, articulated with the urban renewal partial plan “Estación Central Metro 26,” established by Decree 644 of 2023. This proposal responds to the urban fracture present in the articulation between Calle 26 and Avenida Caracas, particularly in the relationship between citizens, transport infrastructure, and public space. The aim is to consolidate the station as an urban landmark endowed with symbolic depth and capable of operating at a territorial scale. Consequently, the project seeks, first, to establish the connection between the Regiotram de Occidente and the Bogotá Metro at the Calle 26 station; second, to address the social practices of the territory; and finally, to respond to the dynamics of citizenship. Therefore, the design is grounded in the principles of Christopher Alexander in A Pattern Language, using urban gates, ring roads, commercial networks, and transport systems as patterns that guide spatial configuration. Complementarily, the concepts of permeability and versatility developed by Bentley, Alcock, Murtain, McGlynn, and Smith in Responsive Environments are integrated as essential strategies to articulate physical and social systems. These strategies are transformed through a theatrical concept— specifically urban scenography— to link the project’s spaces, routes, and activities. As a result, legible transitions and meaningful urban experiences are created. Ultimately, the design aims to respond to urban needs for social integration, connectivity with transportation systems, and, finally, environmental integration.
