Abstract

En la actualidad, el turismo representa una de las actividades económicas más significativas y de mayor crecimiento a nivel mundial, ofreciendo oportunidades de desarrollo y bienestar en diversas regiones. La necesidad de armonizar el desarrollo turístico con la conservación del patrimonio natural y cultural ha llevado a la emergencia de nuevos enfoques en la planificación y gestión de proyectos turísticos. Honda, conocida por su rica historia, su diversidad cultural y su privilegiada ubicación en la geografía colombiana, enfrenta hoy la oportunidad de redefinir su vocación turística. A pesar de contar con un significativo potencial turístico, derivado de su patrimonio histórico y sus recursos naturales, el desarrollo de la ciudad ha sido limitado por modelos de turismo convencionales que no siempre han garantizado una gestión sostenible del entorno. Este trabajo de tesis se enfoca en explorar cómo el proyecto hotelero en Honda puede contribuir no solo al crecimiento económico de la región, sino también a la recuperación y valorización de sus espacios naturales y culturales. Para ello, se examinarán las estrategias de sostenibilidad aplicadas en el diseño, construcción y operación del hotel, así como su impacto en la reestructuración del turismo local. Se prestará especial atención a las prácticas que promueven la conservación del medio ambiente, el uso responsable de los recursos, la inclusión de la comunidad local en la cadena de valor turística y el fomento de experiencias auténticas para los visitantes. A través de este enfoque integral, el presente trabajo busca demostrar que es posible desarrollar proyectos hoteleros que, lejos de contribuir a la degradación ambiental y cultural, se conviertan en motores de transformación positiva para sus entornos. En conclusión, este trabajo de tesis pretende contribuir al debate sobre el desarrollo sostenible en el sector turístico, proponiendo un modelo de proyecto hotelero que, mediante la recuperación del espacio natural y la reestructuración del turismo, pueda servir como referente para la planificación y gestión de futuras iniciativas turísticas en Honda y en otras regiones.

Currently, tourism represents one of the most significant and fastest growing economic activities worldwide, offering opportunities for development and well-being in various regions. The need to harmonize tourism development with natural and cultural conservation has led to the emergence of new approaches in the planning and management of tourism projects. Honda, known for its rich history, its cultural diversity and its privileged location in Colombian geography, today faces the opportunity to redefine its tourist vocation. Despite having significant tourism potential, derived from its historical heritage and natural resources, the city's development has been limited by conventional tourism models that have not always guaranteed sustainable management of the environment. This thesis focuses on exploring how the hotel project in Honda can contribute not only to the economic growth of the region, but also to the recovery and valorization of its natural and cultural spaces. To this end, the sustainability strategies applied in the design, construction and operation of the hotel will be examined, as well as their impact on the restructuring of local tourism. Special attention will be paid to practices that promote environmental conservation, the responsible use of resources, the inclusion of the local community in the tourism value chain and the promotion of authentic experiences for visitors. Through this comprehensive approach, this work seeks to demonstrate that it is possible to develop hotel projects that, far from contributing to environmental and cultural degradation, will become engines of positive transformation for their environments. In conclusion, this thesis aims to contribute to the debate on sustainable development in the tourism sector, proposing a hotel project model that, through the recovery of natural space and the restructuring of tourism, can serve as a reference for the planning and management of Future tourism initiatives in Honda and other regions.
