Diseño de "El centro Aurora": un Centro Penitenciario de Media Seguridad para Mujeres en la Ciudad de Barranquilla

Abstract

Esta investigación de trabajo de grado realizada en la Universidad Piloto de Colombia, trata sobre la relación de un centro penitenciario con su entorno inmediato. El problema el cual se pretende dar solución, es la relación desequilibrada donde la función determina la forma y se desarticula el centro penitenciario con el entorno inmediato. Dicho de otro modo, por su mala planeación, los centros penitenciarios en Colombia impactan a gran escala los sectores aledaños, causando inseguridad, afectación del uso del suelo y deterioro del entorno. De igual forma, se pretende dar solución al hacinamiento y a las condiciones inhumanas en las que los reclusos están viviendo, mejorando internamente los espacios en los que pasan la mayor parte del tiempo sin dejar a un lado la función principal de cumplir con un castigo por el crimen que cometieron. Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, el objetivo general es diseñar un centro penitenciario a través de la composición arquitectónica que ponga en equilibrio la forma y la función permitiendo el vínculo con su entorno inmediato. Para lograr esto fue necesario, identificar un contexto en el que resulte adecuado insertar un centro penitenciario, evidenciando su funcionalidad y su forma, luego, identificar y desarrollar las estrategias principales de diseño que contribuyan a mejorar el diseño arquitectónico de este equipamiento y así mismo las condiciones de habitabilidad de los reclusos y por último, aplicar dichas estrategias de diseño en el centro penitenciario que contribuyan a mejorar la relación del equipamiento con el entorno inmediato y así mismo las condiciones de habitabilidad. El objetivo final es brindar a los reclusos las herramientas y oportunidades necesarias para su reinserción en la sociedad. El diseño cuidadoso y adaptado a las necesidades específicas de este equipamiento permitirá que los individuos puedan reconstruir sus vidas, aprender nuevas habilidades y aspirar a una vida normal una vez que hayan cumplido su condena.

This degree work research carried out at the Pilot University of Colombia, deals with the relationship of a penitentiary center with its immediate environment. The problem which is intended to solve, is the unbalanced relationship where the function determines the form and the penitentiary center is disarticulated with the immediate environment. In other words, due to their poor planning, prisons in Colombia impact the surrounding sectors on a large scale, causing insecurity, affectation of land use and deterioration of the environment. In the same way, it is intended to provide a solution to overcrowding and the inhumane conditions in which the inmates are living, internally improving the spaces in which they spend most of their time without leaving aside the main function of fulfilling a punishment for the crime they committed. Taking into account the above, the general objective is to design a penitentiary center through the architectural composition that balances the form and the function, remaining the link with its immediate environment. To achieve this, it was necessary to identify a context in which it is appropriate to insert a penitentiary center, evidencing its functionality and its form, then, identify and develop the main design strategies that contribute to improving the architectural design of this facility and likewise the habitability conditions of the inmates and finally, apply said design strategies in the penitentiary center that contribute to improve the relationship of the equipment with the immediate environment and likewise the habitability conditions. The ultimate goal is to provide inmates with the necessary tools and opportunities for their reintegration into society. The careful and tailored design of this facility will enable individuals to rebuild their lives, acquire new skills, and aspire to a normal life once they have completed their sentence.
