Implementación de una Herramienta de Seguridad Perimetral WAF para el Ambiente de Pruebas que se Encuentra Alojado en la Nube AWS del Colegio Anglo Colombiano

Abstract

El proyecto consiste en implementar y configurar AWS WAF en el ambiente de pruebas del Colegio Anglo Colombiano (AWS) para proteger las aplicaciones web expuestas, motivado por un incidente real en el ambiente de producción y hallazgos críticos (vulnerabilidades) del análisis externo de julio 2025 (véase Anexo A, página 6 ). El cual permite establecer una barrera efectiva que mitigue amenazas mediante reglas gestionadas y personalizadas, utilizando un enfoque de investigación aplicada mixto (métricas cuantitativas de CloudWatch/pruebas de intrusión y análisis cualitativo de usabilidad y responsabilidad compartida AWS), generando una solución técnica validada, monitorizada y replicable en el ambiente de producción sin afectar rendimiento ni disponibilidad de la información.

The project consists of implementing and configuring AWS WAF in the testing environment of Colegio Anglo Colombiano (hosted on AWS) to protect exposed web applications. It was driven by a real security incident in the production environment and critical vulnerabilities identified in the external assessment conducted in July 2025 (p. 6 of the technical annex). The solution establishes an effective security barrier that mitigates threats through managed and custom rules, employing a mixed-methods applied research approach (quantitative metrics from CloudWatch and controlled intrusion testing combined with qualitative analysis of usability and the AWS shared responsibility model). The outcome is a validated, monitored, and replicable technical solution ready for production deployment without impacting performance or information availability.
