La Relación Médico - Paciente : un desafío educativo

Abstract

Este trabajo de investigación busca reconocer la importancia de la relación médico-paciente durante el ejercicio profesional del médico y la contribución que los docentes tienen para que ésta sea exitosa. El enfoque que se empleó fue epistemológico e histórico hermenéutico. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva de múltiples autores dedicados a la docencia universitaria empeñados en mejorar cada día los resultados formativos. La inquietud para la realización de este trabajo, surgió de la experiencia que tienen los autores dentro de su propio desempeño profesional como anestesiólogos del Hospital Militar Central de Bogotá y a la vez docentes de los estudiantes de séptimo semestre de medicina que realizan una rotación de dos semanas en la asignatura de Anestesiología. Inicialmente se realiza una definición de educación con una reseña histórica de la evolución de la educación hasta nuestra época, se toca brevemente la historia de la educación médica y la historia de la facultad de medicina de la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, donde los autores realizan su práctica docente. Posteriormente se trata el tema educativo propiamente dicho, la pedagogía, el currículo, la didáctica, la evaluación, la formación médica y la formación por competencias para finalmente llegar al punto clave de la relación médico-paciente. Finaliza el trabajo con una breve descripción de las leyes que rigen el Sistema Educativo actual. La investigación permite concluir que la formación universitaria de nuestros futuros médicos tiene una gran importancia no sólo en el aspecto académico sino también de formación humanística, que es la base de la relación médico- paciente, y es por ello que los docentes universitarios deben trabajar día a día en reforzar ésta área buscando tener mejores y más médicos humanos.

This research seeks to recognize the importance of the doctor-patient relationship during the medical practice and the contribution that teachers have as a necessity for it to be successful. The approach or focus used was epistemological and hermeneutics from a historical perspective. A comprehensive literature review was conducted of multiple authors dedicated to teaching at the dozens of universities with the purpose of improving learning outcomes. The impetus for this study arose from the experience of the authors in their own professional performance as anesthesiologists at the Central Military Hospital in Bogotá, where they have been engaged teaching students in the seventh semester of studies, while performing a two-week rotations in the subject of Anesthesiology. The study was carried out using a definition of education, with a historical overview of the evolution of education until present time, briefly touching on the history of medical education and the history of the faculty of medicine at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada where the authors practice. Later we dealt with pedagogy, curriculum, teaching, assessment, medical training and competency-based training to finally get to the key point of the doctor-patient relationship. The work concludes with a brief description of the laws governing the existing education system. Research supports the conclusion that the university education of our future physicians is of great importance, not only in academics, but also in interpersonal relationships, which is the basis of the doctor-patient relationship. This is why university teachers must work every day to strengthen the human element in order to develop better physicians.
