Proyecto Centro Cultural Sabana “Construyendo Identidad: de la Infraestructura Ferroviaria al Arte y la Cultura”

Abstract

La localidad de los Mártires, cuya denominación honra a los héroes de la independencia de Colombia, es un enclave urbano impregnado de historia y tradición. A pesar de su dinamismo comercial e industrial, también enfrenta problemas de inseguridad. Entre sus calles se destacan edificios emblemáticos que resguardan patrimonios culturales, como la antigua estación ferroviaria La Sabana. Aunque en el pasado fue un punto de vital desarrollo económico, ahora yace olvidada, marginada y oculta tras un muro. Sin embargo, comunidades artísticas han tomado su ocupación, remodelándola y dándole nueva vida, lo que representa una forma de resignificar la historia y recuperar su valor patrimonial.

La propuesta de intervención urbano-arquitectónica tiene como objetivo revitalizar un espacio abandonado mediante la preservación de elementos históricos, como vagones y vías de tren en desuso. Estos elementos formarían parte de un recorrido que conectaría estructuras existentes con nuevas edificaciones a través de plazas, senderos, puentes peatonales y accesos adicionales. Estas nuevas conexiones facilitarían la interacción entre los residentes de las nuevas viviendas, comunidad artística y visitantes, mejorando la visibilidad y accesibilidad del entorno.

En cuanto a la propuesta arquitectónica, se plantea la creación de un centro cultural, un espacio de inspiración en medio de un entorno patrimonial, donde el arte y la comunidad puedan prosperar de manera conjunta. Este centro no sería simplemente un edificio, sino un proyecto colectivo de la comunidad con el propósito de hacer del arte y la cultura algo inclusivo y accesible para todos, eliminando barreras y dando voz a todas las personas. Se busca construir un legado perdurable para las generaciones futuras.

The town of Los Mártires, whose name honors the heroes of Colombia's independence, is an urban enclave steeped in history and tradition. Despite its commercial and industrial dynamism, it also faces insecurity problems. Among its streets, emblematic buildings that protect cultural heritage stand out, such as the old La Sabana railway station. Although in the past it was a point of vital economic development, it now lies forgotten, marginalized and hidden behind a wall. However, artistic communities have taken over its occupation, remodeling it and giving it new life, which represents a way to redefine history and recover its heritage value. The urban-architectural intervention proposal aims to revitalize an abandoned space by preserving historical elements, such as disused wagons and train tracks. These elements would be part of a route that would connect existing structures with new buildings through plazas, paths, pedestrian bridges and additional accesses. These new connections would facilitate interaction between the residents of the new homes, the artistic community, and visitors, improving the visibility and accessibility of the environment. Regarding the architectural proposal, the creation of a cultural center is proposed, a space of inspiration in the middle of a heritage environment, where art and the community can prosper together. This center would not simply be a building, but a collective community project with the purpose of making art and culture inclusive and accessible to all, eliminating barriers and giving a voice to all people. The aim is to build a legacy for future generations.
