Reinterpretar el lenguaje arquitectónico para articular la inserción contemporánea. Museo de Memoria Histórica de Getsemaní, Cartagena de Indias

Abstract

Este trabajo de grado expone la desarticulación del lenguaje arquitectónico, generada al insertar arquitectura contemporánea en contextos históricos. Esta problemática se aborda desde la reinterpretación del lenguaje arquitectónico del patrimonio. Se entiende que el arquitecto no debe limitarse a las circunstancias que definen la época en la que genera su intervención, sino, generar una trabazón lógica y armónica con el pasado (Capitel, 1993). La investigación pretende identificar, analizar y descomponer los gestos del lenguaje arquitectónico del contexto, generando estrategias compositivas que configuran la inserción contemporánea. El ejercicio reinterpretativo evoca conceptos de forma, composición y orden, aplicados en un equipamiento cultural. La inserción se desarrolla en el centro histórico de Cartagena de Indias. Se selecciona el barrio Getsemaní, por las condiciones propias del lenguaje y las posibilidades identificadas en el análisis del Plan Especial de Manejo y Protección (PEMP). En el lugar se identifica un importante valor histórico, por su ubicación geográfica y el carácter de ‘Barrio obrero’. Estas características influyeron directamente en la conformación de la ciudad, con las actividades urbano-culturales que se gestaron en la zona. En la actualidad, este componente histórico se limita a la memoria popular de sus habitantes, pues no existe un espacio formal para la recordación o la representación de la historia, de allí nace la intención de museo. This degree work addresses the disarticulation of architectural language, generated by inserting contemporary architecture into historical contexts, seen from the reinterpretation of the heritage architectural language approach. It is understood that the architect should not limit himself to the circumstances that define the time in which he generates his intervention, but rather, generate a logical-harmonious connection with the past (Capitel, 1993). The project aims to identify, analyze, and decompose the gestures of the context architectural language, generating compositional strategies that configure the contemporary insertion. The reinterpretation exercise evokes concepts of form, composition, and order, applied in a cultural facility. The insertion takes place in the historic center of Cartagena de Indias. Getsemaní neighborhood was selected due to the conditions of the language and the possibilities identified in the analysis of the ‘Plan Especial de Manejo y Protección’ (PEMP). An important historical value is identified in the place, due to its geographical location and the character of ‘Barrio Obrero'. These characteristics directly influenced the formation of the city, with the urbancultural activities that were developed in the area. Currently, this historical component is limited to the memory of its residents since there is no formal space for the remembrance or representation of history, therefore the intention of a museum is born. A coherent, and respectful architectural intervention with the historical context is generated through reinterpretation, capable of valuing heritage preexistences and reinforcing cultural identity
