The following thesis research develops the assessment of a series of physicochemical characteristics in the segment of the black river that is located in the municipality of San Bernardo in the department of Cundinamarca in order to determine the conditions of the wastewater present there, all this, from three key points established for later comparison, these were identified because they are representative for the study area and they seek to clarify the conditions in which the inlet water (or upstream) is found, the dumping of the town sewage and outlet (or downstream) water. In this way, a real comparison of the conditions of the river in all its phases after passing through the municipality can be developed to understand what the contaminant load on it is. Within the physicochemical characterization carried out, it was possible to specify variables such as the parameters of pH, solids and dissolved oxygen carried out in the field and, on the other hand, conductivity, TDS, color, turbidity, acidity, alkalinity, hardness, nitrates, sulfates and irons developed in the laboratory, which allowed us to determine a series of variables that qualify the current state of the Negro River as it passes through San Bernardo. On the other hand, for this study, the characterization was developed based on high-precision methodologies with the Soxhlet and Kjeldahl devices, which allowed us to determine the fats and oils and the nitrogen present in the different samples obtained. These methods were assembled in the water quality laboratory of the Pilot University with the corresponding guides, an important factor so that they can be used in undergraduate teaching and research. the contaminant load in the Rio Negro increases in the municipal landfill, but it was possible to estimate that the contamination that it brings with it prior to arrival at the landfill is high and although it is within the limits established by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, it will be necessary to generate a study that determines where there is a greater production, upstream, of polluting material.en
