Currently, many vehicle combinations with different dimensions and weights transit on Colombian roads. However, due to economy, some types of heavy-duty vehicles have opted to change two simple tires for a wide-band tire, the presence of which has not been considered in pavement designs. This may affect the maintenance and conservation of the pavements and may affect the durability of the road infrastructure. In this sense, at an international level, various investigations have been carried out on the use of this type of tire on the pavement, analyzing only one type of structure without involving the different types of vehicle configuration. Determining that when modifying the simple tires for the wide band ones, they generate an increase in the magnitude of loads between 4 and 60 times of what is estimated in a pavement structure. This creates more uncertainty about the damage that this type of tire can cause with different types of vehicles and of different weights. This work analyzed the structural effect of flexible pavements, when using two simple tires for a wide band tire. For this purpose, pavement structures were simulated considering different types of soils and tread layer thicknesses, reaching analysis of rutting and fatigue damage. The simulations were performed using the finite element EverStress software. Additionally, analyzes were considered considering the passage of 10%, 20%, 50% and 100% of heavy-duty vehicles with broadband tires. As a great conclusion, it is reported that modifying heavy-duty vehicles with wide-band tires would affect the useful life of the pavement, mainly in relation to fatigue damage in the asphalt layer. In addition, it is evidenced that said damages increase in soft subgrade and in low thickness of asphalt layer (7.5 cm). This has an impact on the reduction of the useful life of the pavement, providing an increase in the economic costs for the conservation and rehabilitation of the roads.eng
