Plan de recuperación, renovación y ampliación del teatro San Jorge

Abstract

El Teatro San Jorge fue uno de los cines más importantes y representativos Art Déco diseñado por el arquitecto Alberto Manrique Martín en el año de 1938, ubicado en la ciudad de Bogotá barrio La Favorita; debido al proceso de metamorfosis de la Favorita causada por la invasión migratoria masiva de las personas desplazadas por la violencia (1995) provoca que el teatro sufriera así mismo una serie de cambios y consecuencias que hasta el día de hoy no han podido ser reparadas, tristemente este edificio siendo tan importante no se destaca entre el común del resto de las edificaciones en su contexto ya que su deterioro es determinante y el sector es inseguro, generando así un olvido total a la memoria patrimonial que este edificio le brinda a la ciudad. Con este proyecto se restaurará por completo el Teatro San Jorge con el fin de recuperar su actividad principal respetando y manteniendo su corriente arquitectónica Art Déco en el que se complementará de forma adecuada con un cine que también mantendrá en una parte la misma corriente y en otra será más moderna, de igual forma generar espacios abiertos para los usuarios del sector La Favorita, en el que su lenguaje entre el espacio público y el proyecto sean inclusivos con el barrio e invite a todos los usuarios a pasar por el lugar con tranquilidad. El proyecto se enfocará en recuperar su función principal y adicional, no solo será un cine, sino que también implementará funciones de artes escénicas y manuales tanto dentro de las edificaciones sino también en las zonas comunes del espacio público para que las personas que no tienen la posibilidad de estar dentro del volumen puedan disfrutar del arte que este espacio brinda. El objetivo principal es revitalizar en su totalidad el Teatro San Jorge con el fin de reactivar su uso y mejorar el entorno en el que se encuentra el patrimonio para brindar nuevas actividades económicas y sociales que le darán sostenibilidad al proyecto y al sector del centro recuperando su valor simbólico e histórico para la ciudad.

With this project, the San Jorge Theater will be completely restored in order to recover its main activity respecting and maintaining its Art Deco architectural style, which will be complemented in an appropriate way with a movie theater that will also maintain the same style in one part and will be more modern in another, in the same way generating open spaces for the users of the La Favorita sector in which the language between the public space and the project will be inclusive with the neighborhood and invite all users to pass through the place with tranquility. The project will focus on recovering its main and additional function, it will not only be a cinema, but it will also implement performing arts and manual functions both inside the buildings and in the common areas of the public space so that people who do not have the possibility of being inside the project can enjoy the art that this space provides. The main objective is to revitalize the entire San Jorge Theater in order to reactivate its use and improve the environment in which the heritage is located to provide new economic and social activities that will give sustainability to the project and to the downtown sector, recovering its symbolic and historical value for the city.
